Thanksgiving Leftovers, local Xmas parade, Matt Lauer fired, Flynn Pleads Guilty, and Gomer Pyle checks out!

You know the saying..."If a tree falls in the woods and there's nobody around to see or hear it, does it make a sound?"

Well we all know the answer to that. Yes it makes a sound. Now, if there were waist high waves on Saturday and there was no one around to shoot and document them, was it still waist high? Class? The answer is yes. There were still some waist high waves hitting certain reefs and sandbars.

And honestly? I was too busy to shoot. Now would I have made time to shoot if the surf was really good? Again, the answer would be yes. Of course.

But it just wasn't worthy of filling this blog with weak waist high waves.

So in keeping with the Thanksgiving tradition of "Leftovers" I decided to randomly pick a bunch of pics from the archives and give you all something good to feast your eyes on. *Did you catch that? "Feast" your eyes...you know, eye candy. I grabbed some cool pics that didn't make the cut the first time around, and some that had, but are worth seeing again.

This was one of those glassy days we get from time to time. To score the glass you better be on it early. Otherwise you run the risk of the onshores coming up and messing up your glass. On glassy days, it's the early birds that get the worms.

"This is Weston Rogers a little south of wear I'm sitting. What's that? You don't know where I'm sitting? Yeah, that's going to be a problem. You'll just have to take my word that it's a little south of here.

This was one of those lucky pics that I just happened to get. Yes I was trying to focus on the bird, but shooting flying gulls is not as easy as it seems. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the image. Though I must admit, I was also trying to get the surf in the background. I was not so lucky on that one.

My dear friend Kevin "Doc" Grondin taking a steep drop at a spot that has more names than Webster's Dictionary. I still prefer what Ed O'Connell and I called it years ago, CHOWDAH HEADS. Ha! That still cracks me up.

Max ripping the lid off this gray can. You know, I'm not 100% sure where this is, but if I had to guess, I'd say it's the Wall.

Who doesn't like an Old Fashioned Christmas Parade? In my hometown here in Hampton we have a Holiday Parade the first weekend in December. On Saturday December 2nd, 2017 we had another great parade. It just so happened that my daughter Noelle and her boyfriend Pete were around to help me take the two grandkids to the parade. It was so much fun.

We are able to walk to the parade from our home. Well we walked the grandkids got to be pushed in their strollers. The best thing about this parade is all the locals come out and watch the parade. Surfers and non surfers alike. It's a fun time, and it really kicks off the holidays with a feel good vibe.

Some surfer parents even get to participate in the festivities of marching. Like Wes Osswald here throwing out the shakas. I told him "Expect to see this in the Blog!" He laughed I think he thought I was kidding. I wasn't.

More surfers and their kids. I'm telling you it's one of the highlights of the Holiday season. Like I said, "Who doesn't like a parade?"

This is Brylee after the parade.

She was so happy that she got to see Santa Claus. I managed to shoot some cell phone video of the great encounter with Mr and Mrs Claus. To hear and see all the kids scream and wave to Santa was enough to make one stop to take it all in. With the never ending negative news all the time, it's nice to be able to step back and enjoy the simple things in life. Like a Christmas parade.

This week's Ed's corner pic is from the winter of 2014. The surfer is Pev. And he's out at one of his favorite waves on the planet. Ed once shot a great session with just Pev and I out there. It was truly memorable in more ways than I can speak of. pev knows and remembers I'm sure. Photo by Ed O'Connell

Now for Some International News
Just when you thought you had seen it all with these sexual misconduct allegations against the elite Celebrity cult, another unlikely candidate has taken a fall from grace and boy did he land hard. The latest sexual predator is NBC's Matt Lauer. Make that EX-NBC Matt Lauer. Say it ain't so Matt? Matt? Hello?

The mighty have fallen. Day after day, new Celebes's are finding themselves on the hot seat. Or as in Matt's case, the "empty" seat. Who will be next? The list is growing. The women are coming out of the woodwork. And I say good for them.

His colleagues are devastated. Though you have to wonder what they all knew. One thing's for certain, more heads are going to roll. Wait till they hit the music biz and the sports world.

Why are we not surprised that Matt has posed with the King of the sexual Predators His "Swineness" Harvey Weinstein. Knowing what we all know today this photo is even creepier.

This was another shocker this week. Flynn pleads GUILTY to lying to the FEDS about the Russian contact. This can't be good for 45 and his teammates. One can only wonder what is coming next.

Can't you just hear 45 saying "I love this guy! Believe me he's a great man. A tremendous man. Ok, he's a tremendous man, he's just like me. Tremendous. Just a spectacular man. He's like me. That's basically why I love him. He reminds me of me."

Jim Nabors passed away this past week. Nabors was known for his bonehead character Gomer Pyle. Staring off on the Andy Griffith show with Don Knotts he eventually had his own show GOMER PYLE USMC. I never liked that show but I did like him with Andy and Barney.

KSM Photoshop of the Week
The Harvey Weinstein effect is taking down the mighty week after week. It's hard to keep up with them all. So of course our boy KSM would want to have a pic taken of himself with Lauer. KSM loves hanging with the Sleaze Men. They have so much in common. After all, Al Qeada wrote the book on abusing women.

So my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths
of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

*Note to self -must pick up a case of "NBC backstage passes
to the TODAY SHOW" at Home Depot this week.

I'm really getting excited about the GRANITE GIRLS movie. I'm hoping and trying to get it done before Christmas.

It's taking longer than expected. Though I am still pushing for a Christmas week release. Sure would make a nice Christmas gift.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to Jo Ellen Bunton in Idaho. GET BETTER and GET STRONGER with each day JE! You look great and it sounds like you have not missed a beat when it comes to preparing a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner! Oh I can just smell the turkey from here. Our love and respect to you.

The SOU'EASTER October 30th, 2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

The wind howled all night. Gusts up to 70-75mph. hurricane force winds. Out of the south. Round these parts we call 'em "Sou'easters" like their brethren "Nor'easters" they can pack a wallop. Trees came down on homes and vehicles. We lost power. In fact, some are still without power. I know, we can't really complain knowing what's happening (still) in Puerto Rico. But, schools and businesses were forced to close. But the surf? Oh right, the surf. That was in a word INSANE. Double OH and bigger on the sets. Big howling offshore barrels. The crew was out and they were slaying the giants all day long. I shot hours worth of video, and honestly? This is not one of those quick 3-4 minute web edits. This is close to my old movies. You know, where you can actually watch an entire ride.

The music fits. Tull, Beatles, Doors, and the original NOR'EASTERS doing "Jet Stream". I hope you like it. Oh and please, watch this on a lap top or a desktop. Them smart ass phones are not big enough in my honest opinion. Enjoy my friends.

GRANITE GIRLS Trailer II 10-19-17 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

This is the second trailer for the upcoming GRANITE GIRLS and The River Women movie. These are all new clips. I have over 25 women appearing in the final cut. The trailers are too short to have them all in. So, having said that, the music for this trailer is by QWILL. I had to push back the release to get some additional footage. We're now looking at anywhere from the last week in November to the week before Channakuh and Christmas. And what a lovely Holiday present this DVD will make. I've been having fun putting this together. And I think most of the women are really looking forward to the release. *There will be a Premiere screening prior to the movie going to DVD. I'll keep you all posted on that date and location.

MARIA from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

Hurricane MARIA in New England. It's hard to get excited about a swell from a storm that devastated Puerto Rico. Lets face it, all East Coasters love PR. It's our Go To place for Tropical dream waves. The surf from Maria was well worth the travel woes. It's all New England Surfers. The music is by my old band SEMPER FI and the title of the song that I wrote in 1983 is...MARIA. I know ironic huh? David Robinson from The CARS produced the song. I also included a couple of tunes from Tom Petty. I loved that man and his music. So sad. If any of you want to help out the people of Puerto Rico contact the AMERICAN RED CROSS. Thanks.

JOSE September 20th to September 24th, 2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

TS Jose came to town and just got ugly on us. Rain and onshore winds, with glimpses of glass, and sun. But mostly Jose was ugly and dirty. Nothing wrong with ugly, as long as there is some size and entertainment. And there was all of that and then some. The surfers are the local knowns and unknowns. But the music? The VINNY band music was recorded in 1983. Three songs off of our OLAS DE SEXO LP produced by David Robinson of The CARS. I wrote all the songs on the LP. The songs in this video are: "WAVES" "I NEVER SAW YOU" and "HERE'S WHERE I GET OFF" the last song is probably the best song I ever wrote. And I've written a few hundred. The VINNY band included my brother Johnny Fatello guitar, Greg Nesto bass, Javier Pico Keyboards, and Peter Goutzos drums. I hope you like both the video and the soundtrack. Come on MARIA!!!!!

AUGEASTER 8-30-31-2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

With all the recent Hurricane activity as of late I had put this footage on the back burner. It's that end of August Nor'easter that we had on the 30th and 31st of August. I was surprised when doing the edit at just how good the waves were that swell. There's some really good surf in this edit. It's all local. Both the talent and the surf. I used the cool Beautiful People sampling Hendrix tunes. And once again, it all flows.

I'll be busy shooting JOSE and MARIA in the next few days, meanwhile, take
a short trip back to last month and enjoy AUGEASTER.
